Treasure, a 19-year-old representing the Prince George Track and Field Club, leaped to gold at the B.C. Athletics Jamboree, held in Coquitlam on the weekend. The meet served as the midget-and-older provincial championships and saw Treasure clear the bar at 1.75 metres, good for the junior/senior women's title.

Two weekends ago in Winnipeg, Treasure met with success at 1.81m and claimed the junior national championship.

Prince George athletes brought a total of three medals home from provincials. As well as Treasure's gold, Carly Frenkel soared to silver in long jump and Emma Balazs legged her way to bronze in the 2,000m steeplechase. Frenkel, in the 14-15 (midget) girls category, landed on the podium with a jump of 4.71m. Balazs, meanwhile, was on the track in the girls 16-17 division and clocked in at seven minutes 12 seconds.

Other P.G. athletes who attended the championships were Duncan Elliot, Sean Gaiesky, Shauna Hepburn, Danielle Mitchell, Nathan Ott and Josh Hewitt. Their best results were as follows: Elliot (16-17 boys), fourth in triple jump; Gaiesky (14-15 boys), fifth in the 800m run and 1,200m run; Hepburn (14-15 girls), sixth in the long jump and high jump; Mitchell (14-15 girls), seventh in triple jump; Ott (16-17 boys), 10th in the 100m and 200m sprints; and Hewitt (16-17 boys), 12th in the 800m run.

PGTFC members will be in Kamloops this weekend for the junior development provincials.
