A new King added to Coliseum castle

The Prince George Spruce Kings have added an overage defenceman to their roster for the 2013-14 B.C. Hockey League season.

The Prince George Spruce Kings have added an overage defenceman to their roster for the 2013-14 B.C. Hockey League season.

Christian Weidauer was acquired by the Spruce Kings from the Carlton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League on Thursday. In three seasons with the Canadians, Weidauer suited up for 170 games, amassing 83 points (21 goals) and added 15 points (four goals) in 22 playoff games.

"Christian brings good size and a tremendous skill set to our back end," said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes about the six-foot-three, 190-pound blueliner. "His experience and veteran presence will provide stability and confidence on and off the ice as well."

Weidauer said he's an offensive defenceman but his priority is focusing on the defensive end of the ice.

The Spruce Kings main training camp gets underway at the Prince George Coliseum, Aug. 23-25.
