At the Eileen Meagher track and field meet in Halifax last week, Geoff Martinson and his dad, Brian Martinson, both ran to first-place finishes in races.

The younger Martinson, with a time of three minutes 44.29 seconds, was victorious in a 1,500-metre event. In a five-athlete field, he beat Liam Boylan-Pett (3:47.14) and Anthony Berkis (3:47.98) to the line.

Meanwhile, in a race dubbed "The Geezer Mile," the elder Martinson dominated. He clocked in at 5:20.81, well ahead of Robin Meister (5:32.23) and Dave Nevitt (5:47.60). Fifteen runners participated.

Geoff Martinson, who finished second in the 1,500 at the recent Canadian championships in Toronto, is now in Germany for more races.
