The Fraser-Fort George regional district has ordered the evacuation of Electoral Area G north of Prince George due to the Great Beaver Lake wildfire, which has grown to 107 square kilometres.

The festivities, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. in Canada Games Plaza, will feature a short march through downtown, followed at noon to 3 p.m. by a celebration at the plaza with speakers, music, lots of free food, games for kids, display booths and other activities.

Preparations are underway in the Shuswap Lake area to have residents whose homes were destroyed or damaged in the Bush Lake East wildfire to privately view and assess their losses.

Our downtown has been a source of concern and frustration in our community for some time, and despite increased resources directed at the downtown area, it only seems to be getting worse.
