Yellowhead Road and Bridge is asking drivers to keep their speeds under 50 km/h when traveling along a section of Chief Lake Road where a failed paving project left tires gummed up with tar.
In a social media posting, it said repairs have been completed but loose gravel will remain on the road until the Sealcoating has cured.
"We anticipate the road to be swept off and back to normal a towards the end of this week," YRB said. "Until then, we will have 24 hour traffic control as well as pilot cars leading both directions of traffic to minimize wait times and mitigate rock damage."
The trouble arose late last week when the Sealcoating stuck to vehicles rather than the road, prompting a wave of complaints to YRB. Vehicle owners have been advised to put in claims with their insurance providers.
