The girl struck by a vehicle on the Hart Highway, Tuesday afternoon, is alive but has been flown to hospital in Vancouver.
The teen female was apparently crossing the Hart Highway on a bicycle at the intersection of Estavilla Drive when the collision occurred.
"Our early indications are that traffic stopped for two bicyclists who were crossing the highway," said Prince George RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Craig Douglass. "The southbound traffic stopped, and one bicyclist made it all the way to the other side, but a northbound vehicle struck the other bicyclist."
The girl was attended to at the scene by passersby until BC Ambulance Service paramedics arrived and rushed her to the hospital.
"We have not made any final decisions yet about what caused this to happen, there is still a lot of investigating to be done," said Douglass.
The details of the girl's injuries were not yet disclosed. Douglass said she was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, which may well have played a role in her survival.
