The YMCA day camp, Campy Kanannaq, rated 79 per cent in overall satisfaction in a National YMCA report.
Located on Nukko Lake, Camp Kanannaq offers a traditional camp experience, minus the overnight stay. Each morning begins with a welcome campfire and songs, and other activities during the day include canoeing, archery, and a scavenger hunt.
Two hundred and sixty-four children aged seven to 12 and children aged 13 to 18 with special needs are welcome at Camp Kanannaq.
The YMCA Healthy Kids Day fundraiser in June 2010 helped send many underprivileged Prince George kids to camp this summer.
The camp will also host the YMCA Borealis Counsellor-in-Training program for youth aged 15 to 17 interested in developing leaderships skills while volunteering in a camp setting.
