A lawsuit filed by the District of Vanderhoof's former economic developmment officer alleging wrongful dismissal has been withdrawn.
An order removing the action by consent of both Erin Siemens and the District was filed June 30 at B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver.
Siemens had been alleging she was fired shortly after the November 2014 civic elections because she was seen in the company of an unsuccessful mayoral candidate despite remaining neutral during the campaign. The District has denied the allegation.
Siemens had also filed a complaint making the same claim with the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal that was scheduled to be held over 10 days in late June and early July. A BCHRT spokesperson said it was not held and declined to say why it was withdrawn, citing Tribunal policy.
Neither Siemens nor current District chief administrative officer Tom Clement could be reached for comment this week.
