Would-be car thief sentenced

Nigh was also sentenced to one day in jail on two counts of theft $5,000 or under but received credit for 30 to 60 days time served on two other counts theft $5,000 or under and mischief under $5,000.

Nigh became the prime suspect in a July 27 break-in of one of the city's decoy automobiles in which he was caught on video camera.

Additionally, a GPS was one of the items stolen during the break-in of a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue on Aug. 9. The GPS unit was located at a local pawn shop, and through subsequent investigation, police attention turned to Nigh.

Fingerprints were found on two other invaded vehicles the same day that police

suggest came from Nigh.

Nigh was arrested on Aug. 10 by a member of the RCMP downtown enforcement unit who alleged he was in the process of breaking into another vehicle, this one in the 1500 block of 20th Avenue.
