The best ways to make business connections with the Canada Winter Games is explained today in detail by CWG and economic development officials.
"Approximately $15 million worth of supplies and services need to be procured before the 2015 Canada Winter Games are hosted by Prince George," said Initiatives Prince George CEO Heather Oland. IPG is hosting today's workshop to walk entrepreneurs and agencies through the process.
"We want to ensure local and regional businesses, no matter how small or large, have ample opportunity and the knowledge needed to bid on supply and service contracts for everything from coat racks and furniture to sound systems, vehicle rentals and more."
The CWG's boss Stuart Ballantyne will be leading the conversation. He will map out the kinds of products and services the Games will need, the timelines for those needs, and the options that might be possible for local companies to bid on those things, or partner with others for those bids.
"We want to buy goods and services from local sources as much as possible," Ballantyne said.
"We are excited to work with several community partners in hosting this procurement information session to help local and regional businesses prepare for the largest multi-sport and cultural event our city and region has ever hosted."
Helping the event unfold will be direct partners like the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Business Improvement Association, the Northern Development Initiative Trust, Tourism Prince George, Northern BC Tourism, and the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation.
The workshop takes place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at which time a networking reception happens until 6 p.m. All proceedings are at the Coast Inn of the North.
