Initiatives Prince George will be hosting a workshop to help businesses prepare to provide excellent customer service under the pressure of increased customer traffic during the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

The three-hour workshop will be offered at three times this Monday and Tuesday to accommodate business owners' schedules and will be led by Ted Topping of Creative Insights Inc.

"The Canada Winter Games in February 2015 offer exciting opportunities for Prince George's retail, hospitality and other service businesses to generate additional business," Topping said. "But the days will pass quickly, and a business could miss out by not offering guests a consistently high level of service and customer experience. This workshop will show them how to do that."

Topping will help create a plan for preparing staff for an influx of new customers over the Games' 17 days. It will include an update on the activities available to visitors during the Games, and a special "how to" section on implementing and coaching service strategy.

Topping will also provide details on how to:

- Deliver a unique experience through your place, product, process and people;

- Define appropriate service standards for both the 2015 Games and the longer term;

- Maintain those standards under pressure using the process of "service netting;"

- Manage high-volume traffic effectively and avoid potential "system stress;"

- Think "2015 Games big" relative to the service that your business normally provides.

The workshop will be held on Monday in the PIne Centre Mall boardroom, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and in the Community Futures training room, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, also in the Community Futures training room, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The registration fee is $15 per person and registration info can be found at https://cwgworkshopdeliveringservice.eventbrite.ca.
