Safety improvements are "well underway" for two intersections along Highway 16 within the city.
Left turn signals are being installed at Vance-Cowart Roads and Ferry Avenue.
Concrete bases have been installed at Vance-Cowart and the assembly of the signal heads and poles is underway with expected installation in the next two weeks, said Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond in a statement issued Tuesday.
Work will follow on Ferry Avenue with a scheduled completion in September.
"In addition, work is underway in discussion with the city, to look at a longer term strategy for managing increasing traffic volumes and capacity along this critical corridor," Bond said.
Work at the locations was expedited following a fatal collision in April.
Cost of the work at the two intersections is estimated at $500,000.
