The resurfacing of Upper Fraser Road is now complete, the provincial government said Wednesday.

The project included a pavement overlay on 17.25 kilometres from the Willow River Bridge toward Newlands, and on 2.5 kilometres of Shelley Road.

Improvements including milling, asphalt overlay and adding shoulders, were also made at Cummings Road, Beaverley Road East and several local intersections.

A $3.2-million contract for the project was awarded to Pittman Asphalt of Prince George. With these additional improvements, the total cost of the project was $4 million.

"The work done this year extends paving and does important rehab work on the Eaglet River Bridge," Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond added in a statement. "These investments will help improve safety and efficiency for users of Upper Fraser Road."
