A 28-year-old Nanaimo woman died at the scene Monday morning when the car she was driving collided with a logging truck near Fort St. James.
RCMP said the collision occurred at a corner along Tachie Road, about 13 km west of Highway 27 shortly before 8 a.m.
A 41-year-old Fort St. James woman who was a passenger in the car was taken to Stuart Lake Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover while the truck's driver was uninjured.
The road was extremely icy at the scene and appear to be a contributing factor, RCMP said.
The road was closed in both directions for several hours and has since reopened.
RCMP did not release the victims' names.
