The search is on for clues that gang warfare in Prince George has claimed another innocent victim. An elder woman in a wheelchair was inside the burning house at 4337 Foster Road. She was grievously injured and a dog killed by the blaze.
There are early signs that the fire was a case of arson, and connected to organized crime.
"If a passerby had not seen the signs and called the fire department, this female may well have died inside the fire," said Prince George RCMP spokeswoman Const. Lesley Smith. The vigilant member of the public called the blaze in at about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
The watch commander during the early stages of the incident, Staff Sgt. Tom Bethune, said heroic work was also done by the 16 firefighters who attended.
