The body of a 24-year-old woman was discovered Jan. 16 in deep snow in a residence back yard on Glen Vowell Reserve, just north of New Hazelton.

RCMP say the deceased woman was last seen earlier that day and that alcohol was likely a contributing factor to her death

There are no obvious signs of foul play and the extreme weather and lack of warm clothing have been linked as contributors to her death. The woman was from the Hagwilget Reserve. New Hazelton RCMP is working with the BC Coroner Service to determine the exact cause of death and a toxicology report has been ordered.
