Prince George RCMP are dealing with an attempt to abduct a person off the street.

On Wednesday about 9:30 p.m. a 37-year-old woman was walking on Ford Avenue when a pickup truck stopped behind her and a male passenger got out. The assailant grabbed the woman by the hair, attempting to pull her into the vehicle.

The woman was able to get away and ran into the Mr. G store close by from where police were called, said RCMP media liaison Cst. Lesley Smith.

The two suspects riding in a later model Ford Ranger are described as having dark skin and in the age range of 30 to 40 years. The smaller black pickup has a flared rear fender.

"Police continue to investigate and have some information from the Mr. G surveillance system. A witness has also come forward to assist police," said Smith.

Anyone witnessing the incident or with any pertinent information about it is asked to contact RCMP at 250-561-3300, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS or visit the web site at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
