A 51-year-old woman died Friday afternoon after colliding with a tree while skiing at Hudson Bay Mountain in Smithers.
RCMP for the town of about 6,000 people 371 kilometres west of Prince George, said the victim, who was from Australia but was known to frequent the Smithers area, was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to resuscitate the woman had failed.
She was skiing within the ski boundaries, police said.
