Parole for a woman serving time for instigating a botched home invasion was suspended for four months after she failed to return to her halfway house in Prince George.

Crystal Dawn Schielke, 24, went missing on March 31 after she had been asked to provide a urine sample earlier in the day and was arrested six days later at the home of a close family member.

According to a parole board report, she was put in segregation and then into the maximum security unit once in custody after it was discovered she had brought cocaine into the correctional centre and consumed the drug while in the sheriff's van.

She later admitted to staff she was in possession of additional cocaine as well as tobacco but claimed it was only for personal use and did not sell any to other inmates, according to the report.

As a consequence, Scheilke's halfway house was unwilling to accept her return and she's had to find a new one in a different, unspecified location.

By early July, her security rating was reduced to medium and on July 27, a parole board panel member decided to allow her back out on day parole on conditions. She must attend work, school or volunteer activities for at least 24 hours per week, attend sobriety meetings on a weekly basis and take substance abuse counselling.

It was the second suspension of her her parole since her release in January. About a week after beginning parole, she was put on total house restrictions after refusing to provide details about where and with whom she was going when signing out.

Schielke is serving a three-year eight-month sentence for a February 2015 home invasion in Blackburn that ended with the home's owner turning the tables on her and three accomplices. He used a hatchet to break Schielke's jaw while she sat in the back of a getaway car as it spun in the snow.

Schielke's sentence ends in November 2018.
