The Prince George RCMP are warning people and businesses to take extra care with their copper wire after thousands of dollars worth of it was stolen last week.
The local police were called to the BCR Industrial site April 19 following a Break and Enter complaint. Officers said they believe both the gate to the property and the Great Street building were forcibly entered sometime between April 16 and the afternoon of April 19.
Approximately $50,000 worth of copper wire was stolen from the vacant building.
The RCMP would like to remind those that work with or deal in copper wire to take extra precautions to ensure the copper is secure. As the weather warms, access to properties with copper wire increase.
The Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for a stolen skid steer tractor and a flat deck trailer.
The white 2006 Bobcat brand tractor and black 2005 Trailtech trailer were stolen sometime overnight between April 18 and 19 from an address on Recplace Drive.
Anyone with information about these thefts of property or persons that may be responsible is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
