A windstorm Saturday morning knocked down trees, causing power outages across the city.
As of 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, BC Hydro was reporting six separate outages in the Prince George area, effecting approximately 2,070 customers.
The largest covered much of the South Fort George, Millar Addition and Connaught neighbourhoods, effecting approximately 1,650 customers.
A fallen tree knocked down power lines on 15th Avenue between Hemlock Street and Gorse Street at approximately 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Area resident Taylor Pottle said he was sitting in his sun room when the tree broke.
"It hit the breaker box on that pole, it exploded and knocked down the power lines," Pottle said. "We heard it too, it was pretty loud."
Pottle said he and a neighbour went out and stopped traffic on 15th Avenue until police arrived shortly thereafter.
Other outages were reported on Cranbrook Hill, Lyon Street between 15th Avenue and 18th Avenue, along Haldi Road, on Riverview Road in North Nechako and in Salmon Valley.
