Windfall causes power outages

Power has been restored to most of the Prince George area after a series of what appeared to be wind-related outages sent BC Hydro crews scrambling on Monday morning.

The biggest knocked out service more than 1,500 customers in the downtown area shortly after 4 a.m. while another one along Highway 16 affecting 377 customers struck shortly before 5:30 a.m., according to the BC Hydro website. Power to both areas was completely restored by 11:30 a.m. 

Another struck 126 customers in the Bowl at about 10:30 a.m. with power restored by shortly after noon.

Power remained out in a few pockets in and around the city, affecting a handful of customers, as of shortly before 2 p.m.
