Willier admitted murder

The jury for a first-degree murder trial at Prince George courthouse heard Friday from a man who claims Anthony Robert Willier confided to him that he shot Nathan Alcide Marshall.

The jury for a first-degree murder trial at Prince George courthouse heard Friday from a man who claims Anthony Robert Willier confided to him that he shot Nathan Alcide Marshall.

Wayne Allen Loewen testifed Willier told him he committed the act just days after the Feb. 17, 2010 incident, in which Marshall was found dead outside his home at 1790 Hemlock Street, while the two were sharing a vehicle during a 15-minute drive.

Loewen said Willier told him he drove up to the house and fired one shot when Marshall came out and then "pulled up and emptied the clip." He later said Willier was using a .45 calibre gun, was driving a green Ford Exploer sport utility vehicle and wanted to sell Marshall a shotgun.

Asked to describe Willier's tone of voice Loewen said he "seemed kind of scared about what happened" and later added Willier appeared "like he felt bad about the whole situation."

Willier shot Marshall over an incident between the two "in a basement a few years prior," Loewen said, but did not elaborate. "He [Willier] wasn't too happy about it," Loewen added.

Under cross examination by defence lawyer Keith Aartsen, Loewen admitted he waited until he was arrested Sept. 9, 2010 - when six firearms and about an ounce of cocaine were seized from a home in the 500 block of Douglas Street - to tell police what he had heard.

But Loewen denied he waited so long because he wanted to use the information when it was to his advantage.

"I guess it was the only time I had a chance," Loewen said.

Asked if numerous newspaper articles about gangs and organized crime were found at the Douglas Street home, Loewen said there were a few of them, and admitted to having an interest.

Loewen also admitted that by the time of his arrest he knew about Marshall and knew of Michael Sanche, who in earlier testimony, said he was with Willier at the time Marshall was killed.

In later testimony Friday, Prince George RCMP Cpl. Thomas Beck confirmed he showed a video of a man who went by the name "Dax" saying Willier gave him a .45-calibre pistol to get rid of.
