Expect to breathe in some smoke if you're passing by Tete Jaune Cache today.
A forest fire broke out yesterday when a tree fell on a powerline during the windstorm that swept through the Robson Valley and has since grown to about 200 hectares, wildfire management branch spokeswoman Amanda Reynolds said.
She said 26 firefighters are on scene and the blaze received some snowfall overnight and it was continuing to rain as of midmorning today. But Reynolds added the vicinity's steep terrain has added to the difficulty of containing the fire and low cloud cover delayed a helicopter flyover to assess the situation.
Highway 16 remained opened according to the DriveBC website and no structures are in immediate threat, Reynolds said. Tete Jaune Cache is 266 kilometres east of Prince George.
