The Wood Innovation and Design Centre (WIDC) in downtown Prince George is one of two recipients of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada's Innovation in Architecture award for 2015.

The award recognizes projects that highlight new ways to use wood and steel.

WIDC was recognized for its economical and safe features, focusing on wood as an attractive and sustainable material. The architect, Michael Green, is from Vancouver.

The Innovation in Architecture award recognizes areas for innovation like research and development, applied use of new technology and altering technology already in existence. Innovation can be showcased for a new project or changing existing technology.
