The gateway to pay is completely safe and secure and if participants aren't comfortable with paying online they have the option to come to the Prince George Citizen office and pay in person. And it's only a concern for the winning bidder.

That's very reassuring for people not used to shopping online, said Norm Coyne, Citizen promotions executive.

"The reserve bids on some items are 50 per cent of the value so that's a great deal," Coyne said.

"There's hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise up for auction and there's all kinds of items."

There's a car -- a 2013 Chevy Spark -- a scooter, a dirt bike, sporting goods, a Family Y membership, PGSO flex passes, furniture and there's even after school care offered up on a discounted platter.

Higher learning is also in the bargain hunter's sight with dance lessons, CNC vouchers for continuing education, driving and modeling lessons.

The auction starts Friday and ends Sept. 17. Registration takes place at www.pgauctionmart.ca.

Registration includes automatic entry into weekly draws for gift certificates to local restaurants such as A&A Burger Bar, CIMO Mediterranean Grill, Ric's Grill and Twisted Cork.
