What you need to know about Rogers’ Hometown Hockey coming to Prince George

Rogers Hometown Hockey is gearing up to arrive in Prince George next weekend.  Canada’s ultimate hockey festival will be at the CN Centre from April 9-11 to shine the national spotlight on Prince George as a passionate hockey community.

The fan-favourite festival will feature hockey-themed activities, local vendors, live entertainment culminating in a viewing party on Monday night for the pre-game show with Ron MacLean and Tara Slone on Sportsnet.

Vancouver Canucks alum Kirk McLean will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Other on-site activities will include larger than life hockey exhibits, a stickhandling challenge, a family friendly outdoor ball hockey rink, a hockey circus show and more.

Hockey fans in Prince George and the surrounding areas can now register for free tickets to the three-day festival and viewing party online.

The festival schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, April 9 – Festival open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 10 – Festival open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Monday, April 11 – Rogers Hometown Hockey viewing party starts at 3 p.m. local through to the end of the broadcast 

Broadcast & Viewing Party Details:

  • Hosts – Ron MacLean and Tara Slone 
  • Game Matchup – Winnipeg Jets @ Montreal Canadiens, 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and SN NOW 
  • Enhanced health and safety protocols to be in effect during broadcast and viewing party

Rogers Hometown Hockey arrives in Prince George it will also be celebrating Carrier Sekani Family Services, a 2021 Ted Rogers Community Grant recipient.

These grants are awarded to organizations across the country that are making a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of young Canadians. Funding supports educational, mentorship, job skills, and leadership programs that help youth achieve their highest potential.

Rogers will be doing a cheque presentation on stage with Carrier Sekani for $25,000 with a recognition piece to Samsung for their additional, generous donation of 100 Chromebooks.

The grant supports the Carrier Language Program which re-connects Indigenous children to their culture by facilitating weekly programming and language lessons for children and youth ages 8 to 19 years old, prioritizing Indigenous children in foster care.
