There's some good news for local commuters.
The City of Prince George has announced that Westwood Drive near Highway 97 and 22nd Ave. has reopened (Jan. 29) to southbound traffic.
In a release, the city adds the northbound lane will stay closed permanently to help a signal operation change at Highway 97 and 22nd Ave. intersection.
B.C.'s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure upgraded the signal operation at Highway 97 and 22nd Ave. intersection to include:
- Left turn movement for 22nd Ave. traffic
- Pedestrial crosswalk signal with countdown feature
The signal operation change requires that northbound traffic from Westwood Drive be prohibited from entering 22nd Ave. from Westwood.
The City says alternate access to Highway 97 northbound is available from the on-ramp east of the overpass on Massey Drive, which is 550 metres east of the Westwood Drive-Massey Drive intersection.
