Westjet will be offering non-stop flights to Las Vegas later this year
The flights will be available on a twice-weekly basis starting September 10 and lasting until November 26.
"This is definitely new for us," John MacLeod, Westjet vice president for network management and alliances, said in a statemet issued Monday afternoon.
"As we prepared for the annual fall transition of our fleet we had a window of additional flying time over an 11-week period.
"There is certainly demand for Las Vegas from Prince George and while we were not able to fit it in our winter schedule this year we are taking the opportunity to test the feasibility of this service. "Based on the demand we see, we will determine if this route is a viable option to consider as our fleet grows."
Prince George Airport Authority president John Gibson said "it is a great opportunity to show northern B.C.'s support for this destination. It is our most requested destination for non-stop service."
From September 10 to October 29, departures occur on Saturdays at 11:45 a.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 3:05 p.m., and on Wednesdays at 3 p.m. and arriving at 6:20 p.m.
Returning flights on those days leave Las Vegas on Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. and arrive in Prince George on 10:54 a.m. and on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. and arriving in Prince George at 1:39 p.m.
During November, departures from Prince George are at 3 p.m. on both Wednesday and Saturdays arriving in Las Vegas at 6:13 p.m. and departures from Las Vegas are at 10:15 a.m. and arriving in Prince George at 1:52 p.m.
