A fire caused by welding sparks caused between $500 and $1,000 damage to a building in the 2300 block of Westwood Drive early Tuesday afternoon, A dozen firefighters from two halls were called to the scene shortly before 1:30 p.m.

A dozen firefighters from two halls were called to the scene shortly before 1:30 p.m. where the building was evacuated due to smoke, Prince George Fire and Rescue assistant chief Elden Gjerdesaid said in a press release.
