More than 100 traffic-related charges and warnings were handed out over the weekend as a result of a joint RCMP exercise.
Six Prince George RCMP municipal traffic officers teamed up with six Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement inspectors from 5 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday to conduct vehicle checks in the city.
"The Prince George RCMP Traffic Services Section and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement unit frequently team up to help ensure the safety of those persons using Prince George area roads," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig Douglass.
The most frequent violations was a notice and order to have vehicle repaired and/or inspected, of which 40 were issued, followed up by 24 various drivers licence infractions. Five 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions, including 30-day vehicle impounds, were handed out as was one 24-hour driving prohibition for drugs. Speeding, seat belt, use of cell phone or electronic device and no-insurance violations were also issued.
