Highway 16 has been reopened to single-lane traffic after a two car crash that sent two drivers to hospital, say RCMP.

The highway was shut around 3 p.m. Monday after the accident. RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said a woman, who was driving an eastbound vehicle, was airlifted from the accident with serious injuries. A man, driving a westbound vehicle, was also sent to Prince George with undisclosed injuries.

Those injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Cpl. Saunderson warned drivers that the closure is expected to be extensive. Drive B.C. reports the highway is expected to reopen fully at 9 p.m.
