This map provided by the B.C. government shows the drought conditions in the province as of July 25.

After a rainy start to the workweek, there’s good news coming to Prince George, if you like warm and sunny weather.

The heavy shower that soaked the city Monday morning will give way to isolated showers the rest of the day and at night, with a 60 per cent chance of precipitation, heading for a high of 18 C.

The chance of rain diminishes to 30 per cent on Tuesday, under a mix of sun and cloud, with a high of 21 C expected.

Environment Canada is predicting a cloudy Wednesday with a high 19 C, and then the sun will start to peak through on Thursday, setting the tone for some above-seasonal temperatures the rest of the week.

After a Thursday high of 21 C, Friday’s peak is expected to hit 26 C and it should be even warmer on Saturday, with a forecast high of 29 C and a high of 27 C on Sunday.

The clear and warm weather is also expected to last into the B.C. Day holiday on Monday.

According to the provincial drought map and its latest estimates, posted on July 25, there has been enough rain lately to mitigate drought conditions in the Upper Fraser East east of Prince George, which is now at Level 2 on a scale of 0-5.

The Middle Fraser region south of Prince George is at Level 1

However, it’s still dry west of the city and the Upper Fraser West region is at Level 4 drought.

There are campfire bans in place throughout the Prince George Fire Centre, which includes Prince George, VanJam, Robson Valley, Mackenzie, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Fort Nelson fire zones (basically all of the northeastern quadrant of the province).
