Wanted woman surrenders in Winnipeg

A Prince George woman is back in custody after turning herself in to Winnipeg police.

Lacey Susan Gislason, 26, who faces three firearms charges, two drug possession charges and six charges of breaching the conditions of her undertaking or recognizance, surrendered to police on Nov. 14, Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said Tuesday.

In addition to issuing a warrant for her arrest on Nov. 2, Prince George RCMP made a point of letting Winnipeg media and police know Gislason may be in the Manitoba city.

"There was heavy traffic in the media outlets in and around the Winnipeg area," said Douglass. "It goes to show that the media helps to track these people down."

According to police, Gislason was first arrested in Prince George during a drug operation at a home in the 1500 block of Queensway in June. She was allegedly in possession of a sawed-off .22 rifle.

In August she was arrested again, this time on allegations of breaching her court-imposed conditions of release. A similar suspicion arose in September, but before RCMP could take her into custody she disappeared and had not been seen since.

Gislason is next scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
