Prince George will be one of 21 B.C. communities to host a Walk for Alzheimer's this spring.
The local version is set for Sun., May 7 at the Northern Sport Centre on the University of Northern British Columbia campus. Registration is at 1 p.m. and the walk begins at 1:30 p.m.
But the Alzheimer Society of B.C. is welcoming walkers to register ahead of time at walkforalzheimers.ca. Select Prince George from the pull down menu and follow the prompts.
Teams that raise more than $250 between February 1 and March 14 will be entered to win $500 in Air Canada gift cards.
"Teams are a vital element of our local Walk's success," said Debra Moffatt, chair of the local organizing committee.
"They not only build camaraderie in support of a great cause, but they also help us in our desire to spread awareness in our community of Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.
"We have many teams that return year after year.
"Teams, as well as our honouree family teams, are the lifeblood of the Walk, and we appreciate their support more than words can say."
Last year in B.C. the event raised more than $813,000.
