Voters head to polls Saturday

A total of 1,563 ballots were cast during three advance polls in the Prince George muncipal election. Advance polls were held Nov. 9, Tuesday at City Hall and Wednesday at UNBC. General election day is Saturday (Nov. 19) with polls open from 8 a.m.

General election day is Saturday (Nov. 19) with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Prince George residents can cast their vote for the city council and school board trustees at eight voting stations throughout the city.

Voting stations are at Kelly Road Secondary school (4540 Handlen Rd.), John McInnis Centre (3400 Westwood Dr.), Malaspina Elementary school (7900 Malaspina Ave.), Edgewood Elementary school (4440 Craig Rd.), Vanway Elementary school (4509 Highway 16 West), DP Todd Secondary school (4444 Hill Rd.), Ron Brent Elementary school (1401 17th Ave.) and Blackburn Community Centre (2451 South Blackburn Rd.)

In order to be eligible to vote, you must be 18 years old on Nov. 19, a Canadian citizen, been a resident of B.C. for at least six months and have lived or been a registered owner of real property within city limits for at least 30 days.

Voter registration is done at the voting stations and requires two pieces of ID, such as: a driver's license, BCID card, social insurance card, citizenship card, property tax notice, credit or debit card, utility bill, B.C. Care Card or ICBC insurance documents. The two pieces of ID must prove your identity and address, and at least one must include a signature.

Saturday is also election day for the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

Residents in electoral area A can vote at the Ness Lake Community Hall, Nukko Lake Elementary school and Pilot Mountain Firehall.

Area C residents can vote at the Miworth Community Hall or Beverly Elementary school.

In area D, residents can vote at the Red Rock Firehall, Pineview Elementary school or Blackburn Community Centre.

In area H, voter stations will be set up at the Valemount Community Hall, Tete Jaune Community Hall, McBride Village Office, Dunster Community Hall, Dome Creek Community Hall and Regional District of Fraser-Fort George office in Prince George.

Residents of the regional district can vote for school district trustees at any of the regional district voting stations or at stations set up at the Mackenzie District Office, McBride Village Office, Valemount Community Hall, Bear Lake Community Commission Office, Ferndale Community Hall or Hixon Elementary school.

Regional district residents can vote for school trustees, even if there is no district election in their electoral area.
