Volunteer Prince George celebrated National Volunteer Week at their new location in the Native Friendship Centre with an open house Wednesday.
The goal for Volunteer PG is to kick off the 150 Volunteer Challenge to encourage local residents to sign up. Volunteers can log their 150 volunteer hours at www.volunteerpg.com/volunteer-150-challenge.
So far Kelowna leads the pack, with Red Deer taking second place, followed by Prince George.
The challenge offers residents the opportunity to be the No. 1 Volunteer City in the country.
"We really need to challenge Kelowna's first place," Wendy Pollard, new general manager for Volunteer PG said.
"And I know we have a community that can do just that."
Because it's a digital age, Volunteer P.G. is making its online presence easier to access so volunteers can register for the challenge as well as check out the many organizations that offer more than 150 interesting volunteer opportunities.
