Volleyball BC hosting Prince George summer camps with COVID-19 measures

Maximum number of athletes will be allowed on specific CNC courts

B.C.’s provincial-governing body for volleyball is set to host a COVID-19 appropriate camp in Prince George this month.

Volleyball BC’s ‘Summer Train and Play’ is scheduled to take place at the College of New Caledonia (CNC) for local athletes to develop their skills and get back into training mode for any potential play for 2020-21.

Certain restrictions will be implemented at the camp that’s set to span every Tuesday and Thursday for the next three weeks as a result of the pandemic.

This will include a maximum of six athletes on each of the three courts in the CNC gymnasium, with a limit of 18 per 90-minute session.

According to the Prince George Youth Volleyball Club, athletes must bring their own water bottle and other equipment and must be checked in 15 minutes prior to the start of each training group.

The Summer Train and Play takes place Aug. 11, 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27.

The three age categories athletes can register, along with their session times, are as follows:

  • 13U and 14U Girls
    • Born 2006 and 2007
    • 9 to 10:30 a.m.
  • 15U and 16U Girls
    • Born 2004 and 2005
    • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • 13U to 15U Boys
    • Born 2005, 2006 and 2007
    • 1 to 2:30 p.m.
