The Latino-Canadian Association of Northern B.C. wants to bring the heat during their seventh annual fundraiser Viva lo Caliente set for Saturday at the Hart Community Centre.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a chance for guests to get infused with some Latin rhythm by offering a salsa class to enthusiastic beginners who wish to embrace the culture before experiencing the authentic cuisine offered during the evening.
"We have two samba instructors who will demonstrate this Latino dance and there will be a salsa presentation, too," said Dalia Osorio, president of the association.
The dinner will feature authentic Latin cuisine.
"We work with the chefs at the Hart Community Centre who create a special menu just for this special occasion," said Osorio. "The purpose of this event is to keep the culture alive."
The Latin association offers a special party at Christmas as well as offering conversational Spanish lessons to those interested within the community.
Following dinner, it's time to kick up those heels during the dance featuring a popular Vancouver band called Cada Uno and a Latin DJ during the band's breaks. Featured music includes salsa, Columbian, merengue, and bachata beats that everyone will enjoy, added Osorio.
Tickets are at Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave., and are $60 each or by calling 778-349-7085.
