The annual Prince George Information Guide has been sent for publication. For the second year in a row, this yearly catalogue of our community assets will be available for the new year, rather than a spring launch.
"We felt that presenting the visitors guide in May, the way it was traditionally done, was not the way to go. There was too much of a rush, you inevitably missed some of the travelling public, it didn't provide enough time for travellers to really go through it and discover Prince George's options in time for their trips, and these publications go on shelves of tourism contacts all over the north and we didn't want to put it all on them basically at the last minute every year," said Tourism Prince George CEO Aidan Kelly.
The amount of the magazines that came off the press was also scrutinized, to maximize the efficiency of the agency's investment.
"For the first time in Tourism Prince George history, they ran completely out of Information Guides," Kelly said. "We got a great market response by switching to January and we cut down on wasted copies."
The guide goes to about 60 locations where possible Prince George-bound travellers might be browsing for information. It is also available around the region where the local public might also discover new features to their city, or be inspired to finally experience something on the wish-list.
The 2013 edition is expected to be available sometime in January.
