Prince George gets a lot of props for being a gateway to the great outdoors, but it’s also one of the most urban places in the entire northern region.

Tourism PG's new branding has highlighted that unique authenticity and cultural offerings since its new campaign launched in September 2020, even coining a new term called ‘Rural Urbanity.’

With the help of 6ixSigma Productions, local artist, downtown entrepreneur and passionate resident Evann Campbell was commissioned to design a limited edition t-shirt that describes the urban life of Prince George.

The video, released publicly this morning (April 28), follows her journey of being inspired to design an image that reflects the geography of the northern capital and the people that are intrinsic to the community.

Campbell, owner of Silky Hen Design created, designed and animated a multitude of logos, merchandise, apparel and labels for many Prince George businesses including Betulla Burning, Birch and Boar, and musician Danny Bell.

“Having worked downtown, having been involved with a lot of small businesses and then becoming a small business myself, it was important to me to recognize the culture of our downtown," she said in a statement.

"I wanted to express those connections, those unique relationships that we all have with these amazing people behind them."

“Evann as an artist and community member has been a common thread among lots of other organizations, and her involvement is what drew (no pun intended) us to working with her and showing off the downtown scene," adds Tourism PG CEO Tracey McBride.

"She is just one of many talented entrepreneurs and interesting people in Prince George that we will be highlighting with this new approach. We look forward to creating more aspirational and inspiring videos for both tourists and residents over the next few years."

The limited-edition t-shirt featured in the video will be for sale on Friday (April 30) at 3 p.m.
