VIDEO: Prince George gathers to observe Remembrance Day ceremonies

Remembrance Day ceremonies draw a large crowd to the Civic Centre and cenotaph

Hundreds of people gathered at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre to recognize not only Remembrance Day but the 75th anniversary of the Italian campaign.

RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass led the indoor ceremony, which featured the singing of O Canada in Dakelh, the march of the colours, a recitation of In Flanders Fields in both English and Dakelh and speeches by government leaders, including Mayor Lyn Hall, MLA Shirley Bond and Lheidli T'enneh Chief Clay Pountney.

The parade assembled along Canada Games Way and marched to the cenotaph at city hall.

The crowd observed two minutes of silence at 11 a.m.; free hot dogs and hot chocolate were served at the Civic Centre following the service and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #43 was also open for attendees.
