VIDEO: Cariboo Hockey strolls down memory lane with behind-the-scenes look at 2020 B.C. Winter Classic

Three episodes features on-, off-ice highlights from historic trips to Nak'azdli territory

Two Prince George hockey teams journeyed to the Nechako region last month to make more history.

The Cariboo Cougars and Northern Capitals played a series of games in both Vanderhoof and Fort St. James, each including an outdoor contest at Ernie Sam Memorial Arena on Nak’azdli Whut’en territory.

Footage and highlights were captured from the weekend, put together, produced and edited by Will Peters, who also acts as the colour commentator for Cariboo Hockey.

Spending hours in front of a computer screen, Peters published Road to the 2020 B.C. Midget Hockey Winter Classic into three full-length episodes.

Video shows both the Cougars and the Capitals on and off the ice.

For the Caps, they participated in Canada’s first-ever female midget outdoor hockey game against the Greater Vancouver Comets.

This marked the second year in a row the Major Midget Cats went outdoors for a regular-season tilt.

Both teams brought out hundreds of fans, family, friends and community members to take in the excitement.
