Vanderhoof flood water high

The Nechako River will remain higher than normal in Vanderhoof for the next few days said the River Forecast Centre, Ministry of Environment and Rio Tinto Alcan.

The level is expected to remain flowing at or near 670 cubic metres per second and today the river is flowing at 672 cubic metres per second based on the data from Water Survey Canada, while on May 22 is was measured at 578 cubic metres per second.

The discharge measured May 22, 2015 was 4.906 metres and on June 8 the water level is 5.376 metres.

There is a public meeting to provide detailed information on Wednesday, June 10 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Friendship Centre, 219 Victoria St. E., which is hosted by the District of Vanderhoof.

"For public safety reasons and until further notice, the District has closed Riverside Park on Saturday and ask residents to be vigilant and careful around flood water," said Evan Parliament, CAO.
