Vaisakhi holy procession brings colour, music and feast to Prince George

Spring harvest celebration draws hundreds of people to CN Centre

The annual Vaisakhi parade along Ospika Boulevard from the Gurdwara on Davis Road to CN Centre brought the city’s Sikh community together.

Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi as the creation of the Khalsa, which is a collective of committed Sikhs (male and female) who are the leaders and defenders of the Sikh Way. The Khalsa was created to fight oppression and uphold freedom and basic needs for all people.

Organized by the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Society, people dressed in their finest colourful traditional clothing rode on floats and on motorcycles and performed live music during the holy procession while the RCMP provided the escort to the arena for a public feast, hymns and prayers and Gathka martial arts displays at CN Centre.
