UPDATE: One dead after two-vehicle collision east of Prince George

A man is dead after a collision on Highway 16 near Prince George. 

Cpl. Craig Douglass says just after 10 a.m. today (May 24), emergency services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 near Purden Lake.

The incident involved a tractor-trailer unit and a car. The man was confirmed dead at the scene. 

The B.C. Coroners Service and an RCMP collision reconstructionist have been called to the scene. 

Douglass says the highway will still be closed for several hours while officers investigate.

He adds the investigation is in the beginning stages.
