UPDATE: A 23-year-old man taken to hospital with serious injuries after he lost control of his motorcycle Monday morning on Highway 97 just south of Hixon.
RCMP were called to the scene shortly before 7:30 a.m. and the stretch was closed for part of the morning but was completely reopened by 11 a.m.
The investigation continues but police believe that speed to be a factor in this crash. No other vehicles were involved and the man's name was not provided.
Anyone who may have witnessed this crash, and has not yet spoken to police, is asked to call the North District RCMP traffic service at 250-649-4004.
