Police still cannot confirm who the victims are of a fatal highway crash near Quesnel. One is dead.
However some incidental details are emerging. RCMP traffic spokeswoman Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said the collision was between a Honda and a commercial transport truck somewhere around the 10 Mile Lake area a few minutes north of Quesnel. They struck at about 9:45 a.m. Friday morning.
"The road is closed at the crash scene, but traffic does have a detour route around the crash spot. People can still go north-south," she said in early afternoon.
"There are no details yet about other injuries that may have occurred, but we have one deceased person as a result of the crash, and no reports that indicate any more should be expected."
A police crash analyst based in Williams Lake is at the scene gathering evidence. Saunderson said it was premature to discuss possible reasons for the collision but that was under investigation by a large number of specialists. More reports were expected in short order.
