Circulating a photo of an ATM fraud suspect has resulted in his capture.
Prince George RCMP sent out a snapshot of a man they believe is responsible for conning money transfers from unsuspecting users of local bank machines. On Wednesday morning at about 3 a.m., less than 24 hours since Mounties provided the photo to the public, the man they were looking for was arrested.
"The 40-year-old male was located in the 600 block of Victoria Street in the back of a taxi cab," said Prince George RCMP spokeswoman Const. Lesley Smith. "RCMP members recognized the male from the recent photograph released yesterday and he was taken into custody without incident."
If anyone has possibly been defrauded by this suspect, or has information about fraud activities, The RCMP would appreciate a call.
"The suspect is well known to police and has a lengthy history of fraud, robbery and other property-type offenses," said Smith. "He will be facing numerous charges of fraud as police have approximately 15 victims who have come forward at this time."
