Unemployment rate remains below six per cent

At 5.8 per cent, the city's unemployment rate has dipped so low it's creating something of an alarm bell in its own right - albeit one many communities would love to have.

At 5.8 per cent, the city's unemployment rate has dipped so low it's creating something of an alarm bell in its own right - albeit one many communities would love to have.

"You'd really not want to see it go any lower," Initiatives Prince George researcher Tara Bogh said Friday in response to the Statistics Canada labour force survey numbers for March.

"When you're hovering just below six per cent, that is a real indication that you are approaching labour shortages."
